profilax update -DeeAnn

One night while I was sleeping I was awakened with severe pain in my left foot and ankle.  This past May, I broke my left ankle and I experienced a lot of pain in the metatarsal area on the top of my foot between the ankle and toes in addition to the ankle pain.  I had sprained the right foot as well at that same time.  Anyway, I woke up in the middle of the night and my left foot was really hurting.  I could barely stand to move it.  I gingerly rolled on to my side and carefully positioned my foot so that it was protected by the blankets.  It felt like it did when it had been broken.  In the morning, upon awakening the pain was totally gone!  I was really surprised!  I also noticed that the bunnion on my right big toe prior to the profilax would be dry and hard.  After each shower I would scrap it and try to get some of it off. About 2 weeks after the profilax it was quite soft and rubbed off with the towel.  Likewise the small bunnion on my left little toe has almost disappeared!  My skin was quite dry and itchy before and it is much better.

Since last I recorded what's been happening I have experienced several things.  One day while at school I got a pain in the middle of my but cheek.  I was having difficulty getting up and down and walking for a few hours.  Later that day the pain was gone.  I also have felt tension in my neck and shoulder muscles periodically but, they seem to come and go rather than stay for days.  I have been sleeping better without waking up with a dry mouth.  Before I guess I snored a lot but my husband reports that has almost disappeared!  I am feeling more rested in the mornings.  There have also been a few mornings when I have gotten up that my hips feel a little stiff and like I am about 90 years old.  However, after walking around a little it disipates.  I have had more energy to do things in the afternoons after coming home from work.  Before I would come home make dinner, do a few errands and be ready to just rest for the remainder of the evening.  I have been plagued with neck and shoulder pain for years, and I am enjoying the process of those days being shorter in duration and also less frequent.  In years past working in the schools and being around sick kids I would be getting sick quite often.  This year I have felt a few syptoms, taken airborne and haven't had to miss any work!  I think this is a great benefit.  About ten years ago with all the stress in my life I got mono and was down in bed for about a month.  My immune system was really compromised and I have been working hard to build and strengthen it ever since.  Inspite of all the things I was doing I would still get sick several times each year.  So far this year I am still illness free!  I am looking forward to the continued process of the profilax treatment results as it runs its course.  It is great to be feeling better!
I am excited to see how the profilax treatment will help our daughter and grandchildren as well.  They both expressed how painful it was for them to experience the initial treatment.  But, they both have expressed how much better they feel.  Next month we are scheduled to have to more grandchildren done.

My daughter and grandson

Yes, I talked my daughter and grandson into experiencing the profilax treatment. I took them to see Troy just last Saturday November 22. I talked to them last night and they both feel that their atlases are in.

My grandson's shoulders have been off for years and through the years I have tried many things to keep his spine in alignment, all the same things that I tried for myself: the usual chiropractic and massage plus other things that I learned, but none of them would work without constant effort and care. Now I was able to give him (with Troy's help) this gift that will literally last a life time.

I was talking to my grandson last saturday evening about what he experienced and he said it hurt more than I had described to him, he told me that at one point he almost turned around and hit troy. But like having a baby once you are holding the baby you don't really remember the pain as much. There was a large mirror behind me and I asked him to stand up and look in the mirror at his shoulders and he could see that they were straight and he asked me if the profilax treatment did that and from that moment on the memory of the pain was leaving him and he was happy he did it.

My daughter will be posting her own feelings tomorrow when she comes over for thanksgiving because I'll set her down and say, "write". But I was there and watched and heard her comments and reactions. So I'll say a few things about her experience.

She described her daily experience as being a constant headache from the tension she was feeling in her head, neck and shoulders. She said the only time she would find relief was when she was sleeping. I cried when I heard her telling Troy these things and felt gratitude knowing that the atlas profilax treatment would soon relieve her of these problems.

And for the past 4 days she has been free of her tension!!!

Day before thanksgiving

It's now been almost 3 monts since my atlas profilax treatment and things are holding up very well. All the good things have continued so I'm confident that my atlas is still in place.

My range of motion, lack of pain in my joints: knee, ankle, shoulders etc. all tell me that my atlas is in.  My flexability and freedom of motion is increasing.

I've restarted a stretching program (called OPTI-STRETCH, google it) that I gave up a year ago because I would always pull a muscle. My plans are to start my walking and running program next spring when it warms up again. I stopped my running program for the same reason that I would always pull a muscle. With my increased flexability I know I will be able to maintain a running program.

It has been so frustrating to be running along from day to day, enjoying the improvements only to have my left knee begin to hurt for no apparent reason and then have to stop for a month until it healed. I can feel a great difference and equalibrium in how my body is working hense my prediction that I will be successful next spring.

One fun thing about my Wife. I've noticed that she is sleeping a lot better. Before when she would lie on her back she would have labored breathing and snor loudly. But now her breathing is much more relaxed and she isn't snoring.

DeeAnn's Experience

I'm starting my journaling of my Atlas Profilax experience on Thursday October 16,2008.  I had no idea what to expect nor how the proceedure works.  However, I have observed my husband for the past couple of months since he had his treatment and I have to tell you that he has turned into the "Energizer Bunny".  I figured if it could do that for him that I would like to try it as well.
I sat on a chair and Troy checked my range of motion in my neck.  It was fairly limited.  I have experienced a lot of tension in my neck and shoulders over the years.  Especially so during the past 12 years since I have become a Sign Language Interpreter.  This profession requires a lot of mental processing and concentration which contributed to my shoulder and neck tension.  I have also had a lot of stress connected with family emergencies.  Trying to juggle my time between husband, children, grandchildren and aging parents.  So, Troy began to massage and work on my neck behind the ears.  He also had me lay on my stomach and checked my heels and legs for alignment and flexibility.  My legs and hips were also out of alignment.  I sat back in the chair and he continued to work on my atlas.   I felt a clearing of my sinus passages.  After a short time he had me get up and walk.  After that I sat back in my chair and found that my neck range had extended considerably.  I walked again, rested on my back for a short time and then Troy worked on my atlas for the last time!  I layed on my stomach a second time and Troy was able to relieve a jabbing pain in my middle back on the right of my spine.  He checked my legs and feet again.  Then I sat in the chair for a short time.  When I left the office I felt light of foot.  I told my husband that sometimes in the past it felt like I was walking in mud but, this felt completely opposite!  Almost like my feet had sprouted wings.  My feeling of energy continued with me until about 7:00pm  at which time I felt some tenderness to the touch and applied some healing sauve that we have.  I was able to sleep through the night quite comfortably.  When I woke up on Friday morning I checked and my range of motion was holding.  Troy said it would be important to try and be aware of my body and what changes I notice wether big or slight.  He also indicated that the healing process takes time just like it has taken years of abusing my body to get it into this condition.  I will add to this from time to time with my observations.

It's been about a month

It's been about a month and my atlas is still in place.
I'm stating that because my range of motion is being maintained.

I'm not doing anything extra special for my Atlas, I'm not trying to treat it nice, so I have to conclude that the profilax treatment is the difference.

I've had a few massages since the profilax treatment and my neck feels worse for a few days and then I'm back to normal, I'm going to try another massage technique to see what effect that will have on me.

I'm setting up a follow up appointment and I'm taking my wife for her 1st treatment at the same time.

Again my trouble spots ankle, knee, thigh, lower back, upper back and neck are all doing very well without seeing a chiropractor. This is cool stuff. You really need to try it.

The last week

Bottom line first is my body seems to be improving and all the indications are that my atlas is still in place, I feel really good! Lots of energy, full range of motion, my body seems to be in sinc.

At the end of the profilax treatment Troy gave me a paper with instructions, advice and warnings. It included among other things:
-don't let anyone manipulate your neck for at least a couple weeks.
-eat properly, take vitamins and minerals etc.
-have regular massages especially at first to help your body relax.
-a warning indicating you might feel worse as the muscles readjust.

I had the profilax treatment on a saturday and felt absolutly great until my first massage the following friday. To be honest with you I felt terrible the next three days, saturday, sunday and monday. It felt like the atlas fell out of place, there were a lot of cracking in my neck, there was a lot of tension in my head and neck. All of the usual places of pain seemed to come back, shoulders, lower back, knee etc.

I have to conclude that the massage made me feel terrible. I have another massage scheduled this friday a week after the last massage. I'm not feeling so excited about it because of my reaction to the last one. Wish me luck.

A couple days more

My Atlas Profilax treatment seems to be holding.

Here's a run down on my usual hotspots:
My neck seems to be maintaining it's full range of motion.
My shoulders are maintaining a more relaxed feeling all the time.
My hips have maintained a freedom of motion that's enjoyable in comparison. There is still the morning pain of getting my body going in the lower back. But like I've said before its a different pain, pain born of muscles that are trying to strengthen. The pain before was a radiating pain from my lower back from siatica that went down my left thigh sometimes down to my left foot. It wasn't a good pain. It was a sharp pain which causes concerns, like you don't want to move for fear you'll damage it more. The new pain is such that it makes me want to move and stretch it out, without fear of movement.
There is less cracking in my neck when I move it to it's fullest extent. The crackling must be from my vertibre.

I find this all exciting and motivating.
I feel that I want to improve my whole body.
I want to eat correctly, exercise, learn and grow.
I'm looking forward to the anticipated improvements.
